Rosie Winterton, the Minister for Yorkshire and Humber, met with Yummy Yorkshire and ProperMaid, as well as other winners of the Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber’s (RFG’s) deliciouslyorkshire awards 2009/10.
Louise Holmes from Yummy Yorkshire said: ““Winning the deliciouslyorkshire Supreme Champion award marked a great achievement for us, and we hope that the continued support from the RFG, Rosie Winterton MP and the local community will help contribute to our future success and growth.
“Recommendations from others, whether word of mouth or in the form of an award, is something we rely on to promote our products, attract new customers and demonstrate the benefits of regional food. We are very proud to hail from Huddersfield and hope to put it on the map as a great place to visit and source food products from.”
Rosie Winterton said: "I am delighted to be able to congratulate personally Yummy Yorkshire and hope their success will encourage other businesses to follow suit.
"These companies truly reflect the food production expertise and variation which we have in abundance in our region. Our food producers make a significant contribution to our economy, employing 55,000 people and with a combined turnover in excess of £8 billion.
"It is a great pleasure to celebrate their achievements."
RFG CEO Jonathan Knight said: “With supermarkets increasingly stocking regional products and more consumers saying they want to buy local and know where their food comes from, regional food is on the rise.
“Our deliciouslyorkshire awards are a fantastic way for producers to shout about their products and to use the brand as a recognised symbol of excellence.
“We are very pleased that the Minister supports food producers and recognises the quality of products manufactured in the region.”
deliciouslyorkshire Champion 2010, Stephanie Moon, Consultant Chef at the Clocktower Restaurant at Rudding Park and Chef Tutor at Leeds Thomas Danby College, was also in attendance.
