21 January 2010 - New toilet facilities open up the Yummy Yorkshire farm to disabled visitors

People with mobility issues will soon be able to enjoy a day out at a the Yummy Yorkshire dairy farm and ice cream parlour without having to worry about inconvenient convenience breaks.

We have invested £7,500 into a new disabled toilet which is fully compliant with disabled toilet legislation and includes easy access taps, grab rails, an emergency cord and enough space for a disabled person and carer.

The disabled toilet is part of a larger development which also includes a new standard male and female unit, with nappy changing facilities provided within the female toilet.

Louise Holmes of Yummy Yorkshire comments: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to visit Yummy Yorkshire, and I know that our commitment to making the farm more accessible will be welcomed by our customers.

“It is wonderful to now have a modern facility that can be used by everyone, from parents with babies to people with physical disabilities.”

Richard Appley, whose wife Barbara is disabled and a frequent visitor to the Yummy Yorkshire parlour, adds: “As a carer, it’s important to find somewhere that is supportive of our needs and makes us feel welcome.

“We have always enjoyed coming to Yummy Yorkshire for the great food and helpful staff but the new disabled toilet will make it an even better experience. It will take away some of the stress involved days out and gives us more freedom to enjoy our time here.”
